NEW COLLEGUE: MÁRTA PÁLFFY-BALOGH

Our brand new office manager!

Welcome our successfully recruited and selected GrafaciTeam Member!

It is April, 2019. Our captain has arrived, all ahead!  With more than thirty years of practice in management and coordination, Márti takes in hand our business. Surviving the first month we are looking forward to our future!

Updates (September, 2020)

This month we could celebrate our 1,5 “birthday” or anniversary – couldn’t we? We have survived so many changes and challenges (not to mention the epidemics), but still: we work together and strengthen Grafacity Visual Services!
Today I asked Márta, how could she summarise her experience? What are the the most important learning points in this team.
Her answers:

  • “Creativity. Even in me, whom I know for a while – there’s more creative potential, than I thought at first. I CAN work differently. I can change.
  • Patience. I needed a lot, (smile) and sometimes I still stretch myself. There are really strange folks in this team. Artists for example. :))) I had to relate differently to every single team members.
  • Openness. Sometimes I still needed to remind myself: to be opened for something, that is not like me. It happens, when something is clear and simple to me – for others? Maybe not at all.
  • Communication. Should be clear, simple and direct. Reading other people’s mind is not a basic competence.
  • Boundaries. I learnt to protect myself, and to maintain my healthy boundaries.
  • Leadership / rhythm. Just like in tango*, a leader must pay close attention on the rhythm. S/he is ought to monitor the follower, if he/she understood the “message”, and follow-up the process. We cannot miss stepping-stones.
  • EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) was a great initiative. It was an important step to define “chairs” (positions) and to make clear divisions among responsibilities, while balancing motivating and “droid” work.
  • Trust. I felt maximal trust. This is important.”

*Marta is a part-time colleague in the team, so in her “other life” she’s a professional senior tango instructor. Find her on social media!

Thank You for being with us!
You are a great support every single day!

Szilárd
Grafacity Visual Services
General Manager

About Me

I’m Szilárd Strenner, the general manager of Grafacity Visual Services, a visual facilitator and organisational development consultant by profession. I’ve been doing trainings and leading groups since 1994. I got familiar with visual recording in 2010, and I wrote my final thesis on this topic for my OD consultant education. We set up Grafacity Visual Services and became active members of IFVP, International Forum of Visual Practitioners. I take part in nearly a thousand of hours of visual client-work independently or together with my colleagues annually. I would like to better understand how we can support the change processes with our visual means the most efficiently.

EODF conference

The annual European Organisation Design Forum was hosted by Budapest on 19-20 October 2018. It was not the first time, though, that our team contributed to the EODF: we were present at the 2013 forum in Wien and later at the Org Design WS held in the Kaptár Coworking Office. After five years we were happy to grab the opportunity and support mutual thinking with our visual solutions.

Grafacity’s online meeting solutions

The world has turned upside down suddenly. Despite the crisis our team (GrafaciTeam) didn’t give way to despair. We rethought our systems plus we’re gradually extending both our hardware and software tools, and build the know-how.
Our professional team is developing Grafacity’s online meeting solutions – based on our nearly decade long remote experience in providing visual services.

Black suits us well

The innovative art-pedagogic initiative DemoLab was established in January 2018 by the Foundation for Democratic Youth (DIA). We have made the closing event of the program “colourful” on 21.09.2019*.

* Well, this is not quite true, we haven’t made it exactly colourful, since we had opted with Foundation director Rita Galambos for black paper.

Visual techniques training in large scale for qualified professionals

Phone rings – it’s an HR colleague we’d worked together with already: “Hi Szilárd, we’ve seen your training invitation, it sounds exciting, but no one has here so much time. They run internal trainings, stuck in the ppt-world. And we have the sales guys, they’d learn some more striking presentation techniques. Ah, and they’d use what’s learnt as soon as from the following day on. And all we have is the flipchart size at most. Can you do it?”

You’ll learn how Szilárd és Csaba trained to create great “Paperprezi” presentations in 2 x 90 minutes for the cc. 40 people paksi trainer pool of Paks, power station.

Community drawing – so that the participants of your event do participate

We wished to write an article about our increasingly popular community drawing services and so pouncing on Grafacity General Manager Szilárd Strenner having his morning coffee seemed to be a good idea.

EMS Conference

EMS kindly invited us to visually record sessions at the annual conference in Budapest. The burden of expectation on us was high because it was the first time that EMS hired graphic recorders. The challenge was on us to make a positive first impression. We were asked to record two keynote lectures and a few short presentations on related subjects. We also took on the special task of creating a graphical representation of the poster sessions.
